American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 2 years of Neuroscience ICU experience and a PA or compact RN license.
Details- Work in a 10-bed Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) caring for critically ill stroke and neurosurgical/neurology patients aged 18 and older
- Unit also serves as an overflow area for medical patients
- Procedures and care provided include ICP monitoring, post tPA care, mechanical thrombectomy, AVM and aneurysm repair, carotid stenting, craniotomy, CRRT, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45-07:15
- Every other weekend and holidays required as needed, plus one hardship shift depending on assignment timeframe
- May be required to float to other units including ICU and acute care
- Uses Epic EMR
- Active RN license (PA or compact) in hand with no license hits accepted
- BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS required; ENLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience required
- Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Strong experience in EVD, ICP monitoring, angiogram post care, CRRT, carotid procedures, and embolizations required
- Skilled in arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
- Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory/thoracic care required
- Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and acute/chronic renal failure care required
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation required
- Experience managing dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction preferred
- Provide critical care nursing to stroke and neurosurgical/neurology patients, including post-operative monitoring and management
- May care for COVID-19 patients
- Facility is tobacco and fragrance free
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
- Expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), or 1 of 2 if the contract spans fewer holidays
- Local candidates within 50 miles may be considered at a reduced bill rate
- Travel pairs may be submitted together, though matching schedules cannot be guaranteed
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
