Seafood Clerk

Job Summary:

The Seafood Department Clerk is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all Shady-Maple customers following the company’s values, vision, and mission. Clerks must have a general knowledge of seafood products, as well as the ability to work together as a team and follow directions given by the manager. Must be self‑motivated and have the ability to solve practical problems.

• All employees are expected to uphold our company’s values, vision, and mission daily, ensuring alignment with our core principles and goals.
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn as much as possible about seafood
• Suggestively sell products to customers in an informative manner
• Keep seafood products properly rotated to ensure maximum freshness
• Seafood department must be kept clean and sanitary at all times, in compliance with Pennsylvania food regulations set forth by the state.
• Demonstrate the ability to take orders and have strong follow‑up skills
• Ability to work independently without supervision and oversee operations in the absence of the manager.
• Perform daily tasks given by the department manager

• Must be able to follow recipes
• General knowledge of weights & measures
• Basic knowledge of seafood
• Organizational skills

Prior retail experience is a plus but not a pre‑requisite.

• Must be able to lift 50‑pound boxes
• Job requires walking, bending, kneeling, and standing
• Availability to stand on feet for 4‑5 hours daily
• Work environment:
  Work in freezers, coolers, and wet conditions.
• Lifting, pulling, pushing 20% of the time
