This Professional Geologist Manager oversees technical hydrogeologic oversight for Public Water System construction, modification, and operations under the Safe Drinking Water Act. The role supervises Licensed Professional Geologists, Geoscientists, and Trainees and coordinates permitting, well‑source siting, geographic assessments, hydrogeologic reviews, and Source Water Assessment and Protection initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical hydrogeologic oversight for PWS construction, modification, and operational activities.
- Supervise Licensed Professional Geologists, Geoscientists, and Geoscientist Trainees within the Technical Services Section.
- Plan, develop, and coordinate permitting and authorization activities.
- Conduct well‑source siting evaluations.
- Perform geographic site assessments and geologic setting determinations.
- Complete hydrogeologic reviews for proposed or existing water sources.
- Implement the Surface Water Identification Protocol (SWIP) sampling and source determinations.
- Support Source Water Assessment and Protection (SWAP) initiatives.
- Determine well‑source safe‑yield for multiple types of Public Water Systems.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours:
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break. - Telework: up to three days per week, provided a secure high‑speed internet connection and approved Pennsylvania location. Telework is subject to change at any time. If unable to telework, the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes‑Barre is available.
- Salary: starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.
- Minimum of two years as a Licensed Professional Geologist (Commonwealth designation or equivalent Federal Government designation)
OR - Two years of professional geology experience, possession of an active license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists, and a bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, earth sciences, geosciences, geoenvironmental sciences, environmental sciences, or a closely related field.
- Active license as a professional geologist issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
- Active Pennsylvania non‑commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
