Position Summary:
Albright College is seeking a reliable and skilled In-House Maintenance Technician to live on campus and provide timely maintenance and repair services for college-owned buildings and facilities. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate will be provided with on-campus housing as part of the compensation package and will be expected to respond to maintenance needs both during regular hours and in emergencies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Must be available for on-call emergencies/corrective actions and have a flexible schedule.
- Ability to assess issue, and at a minimum, address the issue to limit further damages until regular business hours.
- Living on campus is a condition of this employment. Private Housing provided.
- Perform general maintenance tasks that include, but are not limited to: general carpentry, general plumbing, general electrical, HVAC diagnosis and repairs.
- Perform general repairs and corrective actions to doors/locks/hardware.
- Perform corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance in a variety of applications.
- Perform corrective measures to work orders that are assigned.
- Identify issues and potential issues, resolve and/or report issues.
- Prioritize work making sure major and life safety issues take priority.
- Ability to handle reactive maintenance as well as preventative maintenance.
- Must be able to work in a team setting as well as an individual setting.
- Monitor or inspect work of contractors on specialized work; report problems to supervisor.
- Maintain records on maintenance performed, material procured, and inventories held as part of the work order process.
- Maintain equipment and work area; maintain a clean work environment.
- Perform work following the standard department and trade safety procedures.
- Assist in snow removal.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Prerequisites:

COMMUNICATION
- Verbal and written communication skills

SKILLS
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Ability to diagnose issues and resolve or report issues to supervisor
- Ability to work in an efficient manner
- Ability to lift 40 lbs without assistance
- Ability to kneel, climb ladders up to 20 feet, and climb stairs
- Ability to comprehend work requests, notices, and directions, particularly those associated with the directions for use, precautions, and notices of hazards for equipment used.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and repairs
- Knowledge of elementary household electricity and plumbing
- Knowledge of basic mechanics and the principles of building construction
- Knowledge of the tools, materials and the safety hazards associated with the trade
- Knowledge of building codes
- Good interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability in working with various team members and divisions
3.
EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
- Preventative and corrective maintenance experience preferred.
- Doors, Locks and Hardware experience preferred.
4.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma is required.
5.
LICENSES
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or the ability to obtain a valid license.
- Appropriate skill-level certifications preferred.
