Construction Carpenter/Foreman

The Construction Carpenter/Foreman will build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials to assist with various construction projects.

The Construction Carpenter/Foreman must:

• Keep building and/or assigned areas of jobsite clean and organized as necessary to maintain a safe and productive working environment.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman/General Superintendent, Safety Director, or HR manager.
• Measure, mark, and arrange materials to establish layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
• Cut and shape structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
• Use various hand and power tools to build assigned projects securely.
• Join materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesive.
• Ensure the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; correct problems as needed.
• Create wooden forms for pouring concrete or for tunnels, bridges, or sewer construction projects.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding.
• Install windows and doors.
• Adhere to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Competencies

• Experience preferred but willing to train the right individual.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to travel as needed (typically less than 10% of the time).
• Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
• Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
• Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
• Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
• In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines.
• Must have a valid driver's license with the ability to hold a Med Card.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Clean driving record.
