Position Overview
County Social Services Aide 2 – Potter County. This role supports consumers by providing practical, clerical, and community work, and by participating in Suicide Prevention and Housing programs. Employees will help people grow, recover, and be included in their communities, offering culturally competent services and supports of choice. The position is a civil service role with an excellent benefits package.
Description of WorkThe County Social Services Aide 2 will perform duties that include:
- Scheduling and Transportation – organize and provide transportation to and from medical, social program, or other appointments.
- Event Assistance – plan, assist, and attend agency-sponsored community events.
- Community Help – provide basic information for consumers and the community, and facilitate groups with housing consumers.
- Clerical Support – assist staff with filing, telephone calls, gathering information, and preparing reports.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours:
8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. - Telework is not available for this position.
- Salary – in some cases the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
- One year as a County Social Services Aide 1; or
- High school graduation or equivalency plus two years of public contact work in a human services agency, including one year of interviewing and obtaining information; or
- An associate’s degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or another related social science; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
- Preferential hiring may be given to candidates who live within Potter County. If no eligible residents apply, candidates from other counties may be considered.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
