Make an impact at the Arthur J. Glatfelter YMCA in York! Our Wellness Attendants play a key role in building a friendly, safe, and motivating environment by assisting members, maintaining fitness spaces, and promoting a culture of health and encouragement.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Wellness Attendant maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for members in the Wellness Center. Under the supervision of the Wellness Director or Coordinator, the Wellness Attendant is responsible for the services and operations offered in the Wellness Center while providing high quality services for members, participants, and guests of the YMCA.
Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of the Roses is conveyed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least 16 years of age
- Obtain CPR PRO/AED/First Aid certification within 3 months of hire
- Ability to work well with people and maintain a positive attitude
- Knowledge of strength training and cardio equipment
- Complete the following within 1 month of hire:
- Living Our Cause
- Cause Driven Tour
- Orientation to Healthy Living at the Y
- Wellness Center at the Y training
- Complete the following within 3 months of hire:
- Foundations of Listen First
- Principles of Member Health and Wellness
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Ability to instruct and observe health seekers with proper form and technique.
- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force regularly and 45 pounds of force occasionally.
- Ability to Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift grasp, talk, make repetitive motions, see and hear.
Obtain Criminal background check, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
