Cafeteria/Recess Assistant

Central York School District (CYSD) is seeking a caring and dependable Cafeteria/Recess Assistant to join our team! The ideal candidate will be dedicated to creating a safe, positive, and supportive environment for students during lunch and recess. This person should be attentive, proactive, and enjoy working with children of all ages. Job Summary:

Monitor students' activities while in the cafeteria and during recess, enforcing discipline and resolving problems as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Direct students where to sit in the cafeteria.
• Assist students with opening food and drink items.
• Maintain order during the lunch period.
• Enforce discipline in food line and dining areas.
• May need to break up arguments and/or fights or have students clean up their own messes.
• Watch for theft in food line and putting cafeteria items into the trash.
• Document and/or report disciplinary issues.
• Take attendance and monitor students leaving the cafeteria (high school).
• Dismiss students from cafeteria.
• If building serves breakfast, ensure students leave cafeteria on time prior to commencement of the school day.
• Oversee recess period, monitoring students' activities, enforcing discipline, monitoring safety and addressing injuries.
• Utilize walkie-talkie/radio as needed.
• Wipe down tables, clean-up and put dining area back in order.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent Hourly Rate: $13.93-$18.68
