CVS Health has an exciting opportunity in Wilkes-Barre, PA for a Materials Handler to be a part of our Mail Order Pharmacy team. The Materials Handler is essential to ensuring patients receive their medications in a timely manner. As part of the team, you will have an important, uniquely rewarding role putting your Materials Handler skills and experience to work in a closed-door pharmacy setting.
You will make a difference by excelling in a complex, high impact dispensing role and positively impacting the lives of others. You will work alongside a team of talented individuals in a concerted effort and under the direct supervision of Lead Technicians and Pharmacy Supervisors.
The ideal candidate will possess high levels of reliability, accuracy, professionalism, team orientation and problem‑solving skills.
As a Materials Handler working in the back‑end of the pharmacy, you will have an opportunity to impact the lives of thousands of patients who rely on critical medications to be shipped from our facility. You will work with a driven, self‑motivated team of professionals to meet individual and team production goals.
You will play a crucial role in the day‑to‑day operations of the pharmacy warehouse by engaging in the receiving, storage and replenishment of products throughout the facility. Your responsibilities will include moving new shipments of pharmaceutical product to be stacked in their appropriate storage spaces, pulling product to be shipped with the appropriate carriers and inspecting products for damages. To be successful, you will utilize scanners and other hand‑held devices to maintain inventory accuracy and may operate manual lifts, reach trucks and transfer equipment to move product throughout the facility.
This role allows you to engage in an active environment while working to develop individual production skills. During your time at CVS as a Materials Handler you will be exposed to multiple job functions, giving you the chance to apply for future promotional opportunities and advance in your career.
Mon - Fri 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
Required Qualifications- High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Ability to work mandatory overtime/extended work week when needed
- Ability to remain upright on your feet for sustained periods of time, moving on foot to accomplish tasks within and between work areas
- Ability to operate equipment that elevates over 15 feet
- Ability to lift, reach, twist, turn, bend, stoop or walk with up to 55 lbs to move objects
- Close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer screen, reading, and inspecting small parts
- Ability to concentrate on a task over a period without distraction
- Working primarily with fingers rather than whole hand or arm (typing, picking, pinching, etc.)
- Extending hands and arms in any direction
- Bending body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist
- Stooping to a considerable degree, requiring full use of lower extremities and back muscles
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word where detailed or important instructions must be conveyed accurately
- Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, receiving detailed information through oral communication
- Knowledge of materials management system (SAP)
- Formal Pharmacy Technician training and/or experience
- Experience in medical, fulfillment center, warehouse or healthcare environments
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Verifiable high‑school diploma or GED
