Position OverviewThe Senior Development Project Engineer (Data Center Construction) supports the design, preconstruction, and construction phases for data center projects. The role collaborates with facilities teams, contractors, designers, and corporate real‑estate staff.
Responsibilities- Assist Development leadership and Project Manager with day‑to‑day activities and responsibilities.
- Manage multiple campus projects, maintaining updated budgets, schedules, and status reports.
- Prepare monthly development program and project status reports for executive review.
- Collaborate with design and construction teams to develop master development programs, complete campus design solutions, and capital budgets.
- Support entitlement and permitting processes for assigned site projects.
- Define scopes of work for design, construction, and commissioning services, and participate in procurement and cost estimation.
- Evaluate and level pricing proposals for design, construction, and commissioning services.
- Work with strategic procurement on equipment procurement and delivery.
- Coordinate submittals with site stakeholders and monitor project budget and cost‑to‑date.
- Review project schedules, manage teams for on‑time completion, and review change order requests from contractors.
- Establish site construction security procedures with the site security team.
- Act as liaison with key QTS stakeholders and represent QTS interests in OAC meetings.
- Participate in due diligence for potential land banks and new properties.
- Enhance project management processes and protocols within the internal development team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures, including Lump Sum, Construction Management at Risk, and Design Build delivery methods.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and solving problems at a tactical and functional level.
- Prior experience in mission‑critical data center facilities and MEP trade management.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
- U.S. citizenship required by law due to federal customer contracts.
