• Workers at this level solve more complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. Workers are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with even greater independence.

• They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressingly complex and varied.

• 10 years discipline experience.

• An experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in the design, analysis, modification, and maintenance of nuclear plant mechanical systems. Experience with any or all of the following is desired: piping systems, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, HVAC systems, fluid systems, structural supports, and mechanical equipment. Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, configuration management, equipment operability, system interactions, and applicable industry codes and standards.
  
  Familiarity with nuclear plant design basis requirements, engineering programs, and engineering change processes.

• Ability to perform engineering evaluations, calculations, equipment troubleshooting, procurement engineering support, and modification design activities. Ability to read and interpret plant drawings and technical documents, flow diagrams, isometrics, piping support drawings, equipment arrangement drawings, vendor documents, and mechanical calculations. Ability to work on assigned projects with minimal supervision. Ability to work as part of a team, be self-motivated, exercise flexibility, and take personal responsibility for assigned accountabilities.

• Some of the key products this individual will be responsible for reviewing and/or producing include Engineering Change Basedocs, Engineering Evaluations, Mechanical Calculations, Procurement Specifications, Design Inputs, Modification Test Plans, Equipment Database Records, Plant Drawings, Bill of Materials, and supporting design and licensing documentation.

• Knowledge of the Standard Design Process.

• Preparation of Engineering Changes (CO-FLT-ENG-2000 Design Change)

• Design Verification (CO-FLT-ENG-2050 Design Verification)

• Calculations (CO-FLT-ENG-2030 Prepare or Revise a Calculation)

• Procurement Specification or TRD (CO-FLT-ENG-2040 Preparation or Revise a Procurement Specification or TRD)

• Applicability Determination Preparer (CO-FLT-AD)

• 50.59 Screener (CO-FLT-50.59-SCR)

• Experience performing mechanical system engineering, design engineering, or modification engineering at a commercial nuclear plant.

• Experience with Client engineering processes and procedures.

• Experience supporting engineering changes involving mechanical systems, equipment replacement, procurement engineering, operability evaluations, and field implementation.

• Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards including ASME Section III, Section XI, B31.1, and related nuclear industry requirements.
