We invite you to apply to join our team as a full‑time (40 hours per week), exempt Finance Director with York County Sheriff’s Office. The purpose of this position is to direct the financial and purchasing functions of the York County Sheriff’s Office at the direction of the Sheriff. This position provides support through information analyses and preparation of operational data, analyses, and reports.
The ideal candidate will have governmental accounting experience, budgeting experience, good communication and organizational skills.
Full Salary Range / Pay Grade 123: $76,190.17 – $; final salary is determined based on qualifications.

- Develop, prepare, and create budgets for the Sheriff's Office; prepare supporting documents for budget requests, reporting, and implementation, and coordinate with the Sheriff and other supervisory positions.
- Evaluate and approve purchases; monitor compliance with County Procurement Ordinance and ensure that public funds are spent in the best interest of the Sheriff's Office and citizens of York County.
- Maintain financial records for the York County Multi‑Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit, including reconciling seizure and forfeiture accounts, investing funds, issuing checks, and preparing periodic reports.
- Review purchase requests to ensure compliance with approved budget.
- Approve payment of invoices.
- Review and manage budgetary accounts; develop forecast of anticipated revenues and expenditures.
- Prepare periodic and special reports for management and other stakeholders.
- Prepare financial reports for state and federal grants; attend grant meetings and work directly with grant administrators.
- Maintain and reconcile independent checking accounts.
- Serve as liaison to banking institutions; coordinate special projects outside the financial area.
- Perform related work as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration.
- Six (6) years of finance, accounting, procurement, bookkeeping, or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience with Quick Books is preferred.
- Experience with public accounting or public finance is preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license is preferred.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- May require additional professional or technical certifications as deemed necessary by management.

Physical DemandsPhysical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Perform sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
