Job Responsibilities

York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.

• Provides primary support for network core, edge, VPN, routers, firewalls, and networking to remote locations. Troubleshoots complex network problems, monitors utilization, and recommends improvements to IT services.
• Provides backup support for an 80 server VMWare environment, including storage, enterprise backup (Commvault), hardware, VMWare, Microsoft Windows server, ADFS authentication, and Office 365.
• Collaborates with vendors and consultants to resolve issues and identify and integrate solutions to meet the IT needs of the college. Utilizes software tools such as Solar Winds to troubleshoot on‑premise issues as well as connectivity and integration issues with cloud-based services.
• Participates in the college's IT Security Plan to continuously improve the IT security posture of the college, including the review of security logs, system configurations, responding to malicious email, and protecting confidential data.
• Provides support to network‑attached devices such as security cameras, IP‑based telephones, and digital signage.
• Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and two years of experience in information technology systems or related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Knowledge of WAN / LAN architecture, design, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of VMWare, data center storage, data center principles, IT security and Windows server operating system. Understanding of Office 365 configuration.
