The Rise Nursery at St Peter’s School

To support the Room Leader in ensuring the highest standards of care, learning and development for children aged six months to three years. The Deputy Room Leader will help create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment, support colleagues within the room and build strong partnerships with families.

The Deputy Room Leader will lead the room in the Room Leader’s absence, including on their designated day off, during holidays and other periods of absence.

• Support the planning and delivery of high‑quality EYFS provision.
• Monitor children’s progress and contribute to positive learning outcomes.
• Act as a keyperson, building strong relationships with children and families.
• Support an inclusive environment that meets individual children’s needs.
• Support the day‑to‑day running of the room, ensuring routines, ratios and high standards are maintained.
• Lead the room confidently in the absence of the Room Leader.
• Maintain excellent standards of care, health, safety and hygiene.
• Support the creation of an engaging and well‑organised learning environment in line with the ethos and pedagogical approach of The Rise Nursery.
• Work collaboratively with the Room Leader to ensure consistency in practice and standards throughout the week.

• Support and role‑model high‑quality practice for colleagues.
• Assist with the mentoring and development of educators and apprentices.
• Contribute to team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives

• Develop positive relationships with parents and carers.
• Share information about children’s wellbeing and development.
• Support effective communication between home and nursery.

• Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with EYFS, Ofsted and nursery policies.
