A great opportunity has arisen for a customer service focused service engineer to join a trusted provider of forklift trucks with a variety of clients and products, including lithium, electric and diesel powered trucks.

Role Overview:

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of a variety of forklift trucks and material-handling equipment - including modern lithium battery forklifts. Working remotely, you'll plan your own daily workload and travel to customer sites within approximately 60-90 minutes of your home location.

This role offers excellent independence, responsibility, and the support of a well-structured technical team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and safety inspections on a wide range of forklift trucks (diesel, electric, LPG, and lithium).
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and battery-related faults.
  • Carry out repairs efficiently and professionally while minimising customer downtime.
  • Provide clear and accurate job reporting via the company's digital systems.
  • Maintain company van stock and ensure parts are managed effectively.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, acting as the face of the company.
  • Liaise with the service office for scheduling, technical support, and parts ordering.
  • Adhere to all health & safety practices and manufacturer guidelines.

Beneficial Skills / Experience:

  • Previous experience as a forklift engineer, plant engineer, agricultural engineer, automotive technician, or similar mechanical/electrical service role.
  • Strong diagnostic capabilities across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with lithium battery equipment (training can be provided if partly experienced).
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Good IT literacy for completing service reports on a tablet/device.
