Gas Inspector

Gas Safe Register is currently recruiting a safety-focused gas qualified individual to join our field services team in York.

As a Gas Engineer, you will be responsible for inspecting, reporting, and feeding back on the gas safety standards delivered by registered businesses in the York and surrounding area.

You will be allocated a portfolio of registered businesses and provided with a structure to ensure inspections and reports are completed in line with service level agreements.

• Carry out and complete inspections in line with our risk model and contractual obligations with the HSE.
• Complete inspections against Gas Industry Statutory and Normative documents and internal operating procedures.
• Liaise with registered businesses to ensure any defects identified are understood and completed to standard and within the required timescale.
• Ensure inspection reports are completed within a Service Level Agreement and to the required standard.
• Ensure the appropriate course of action is taken when unsafe or illegal gas work is identified.
• Liaise with and effectively communicate with registered businesses and gas consumers.

Essential

• Candidate must be located in York or within a 15‑mile radius.
• Must hold as a minimum the following ACS certificates of competence: CCN1, CENWAT1, CKR1, HTR
  1. Ideally the applicant will also have additional ACS certificates in LPG, Non‑Domestic & Catering, LAU1 and DAH
  1.
• Experience working on a variety of gas appliances and/or quality controlling of gas work.
• Understanding of Health & Safety, Building Regulations, and other related codes and normative documents, including ability to risk‑assess environments.
• Relevant Auditor qualification (D32/A1) or equivalent would be a desirable addition.
• Regularly maintain technical knowledge and industry awareness through CPD.
• Appreciation of issues affecting gas, plumbing, electrical and H&V installation businesses.
• Ability to use tools and undertake appropriate tests and checks during inspection.
