As the company continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Surveyor to join their team in the Warren‑Youngstown metropolitan area.

About the Position

The Surveyor will lead both field and office surveying activities supporting heavy civil construction projects from initial layout through project completion. This individual will work independently while collaborating closely with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to ensure accurate construction layout and project execution.

Unlike many surveying opportunities within the construction industry, this is a full‑time, year‑round position
. During winter months and slower construction periods, the Surveyor will transition into office‑based responsibilities, including as‑built documentation, quantity calculations, estimating support, model preparation, and project planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform construction layout and staking for heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Lead field surveying operations using GPS, Total Station, Robotic Total Station, and automatic level equipment.
  • Utilize Trimble GPS technology and machine control systems to support construction activities.
  • Build and manage digital models using Trimble Business Center.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
  • Coordinate surveying activities with project managers, superintendents, and field crews.
  • Prepare accurate as‑built surveys and documentation.
  • Perform quantity calculations and provide estimating support.
  • Assist with project planning and surveying preparation during preconstruction.
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and efficiency throughout all phases of construction.
Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Experience performing surveying for heavy civil construction projects.
  • Proficiency with Trimble GPS equipment and machine control technology.
  • Experience using Trimble Business Center to create and manage construction models.
  • Working knowledge of Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, and automatic levels.
  • Strong mathematical and calculation skills.
  • Experience staking roadways, manholes, inlets, curb, sidewalk, utilities, and other heavy civil infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience performing layout and staking for municipal, county, and/or state transportation projects.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication with project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • State Surveyor License or certification preferred but not required.
  • Additional experience supporting estimating, quantity calculations, and project planning.
  • Knowledge of DOT standards and public infrastructure construction practices.
