Summary of Position

Provides instructional, pedagogical, and developmental support to faculty in the delivery of courses and programs. Leads faculty professional development initiatives designed to align teaching practices with state legislative requirements, including new annual and course evaluation metrics, syllabus transparency, peer evaluation of faculty, and post-tenure review processes. Ensures the daily function of operations and services related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective.

Works under general supervision and may make some work procedural decisions which do not contravene policies; generally, determines work sequences (which task comes first) within any department/divisional guidelines. Exercises professional judgment to prioritize competing demands and allocate resources effectively to meet departmental goals. Serves as a subject matter expert and resource person for the assigned area.

Position Information

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

Promotes and supports effective teaching practices, including active learning, student-centered instruction, and assessment for learning through professional development programming, consultation services, and resource materials.

Provides coaching and structured instructional support for faculty seeking to improve pedagogical performance.

Provides guidance and consultation on instructional strategies, teaching methods, and course materials, and develops instructional resources to support these goals.

Partners directly with faculty to design and develop effective and engaging curriculum for a variety of courses.

Assists faculty with documenting and improving teaching excellence in a variety of contexts, including annual evaluation, tenure and promotion, and departmental goal reporting.

Administers the training, organization, oversight, and reporting of the peer evaluation of faculty processes.

Trains and supports department chairpersons in evidence-based practices for teaching observation and evaluation.

Assists faculty in effectively incorporating instructional materials and technologies into their courses to enhance teaching and learning and create engaging and interactive face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning experiences.

Acts as an advocate for incorporation of effective pedagogical strategies into teaching practices, courses, curriculum, and policy.

Actively engages in professional development and continuing education to stay current with best practices and evolving instructional design techniques.

Acts as a lead worker; provides functional guidance to lower-level workers.

Designs and delivers training materials and/or other supporting documentation necessary for the operation of the assigned area.

Analyzes complex data sets and prepares comprehensive reports with recommendations for leadership.

Researches and recommends process improvements for departmental operations on a routine or regular basis. Evaluates effectiveness and recommends enhancements of services.

Participates and/or leads complex projects, including implementation plans, timelines, and resource requirements.

Coordinates daily tasks related to one or more assigned components of overall programs and/or services as assigned.

Regularly communicates with supervisor and other staff, including student workers, as required or needed in the completion of daily tasks in support of overall goals and objectives.

Prepares and maintains accurate records of daily tasks in accordance with applicable policies and procedures and assures timely communication with supervisor, staff, and students where appropriate.

Gathers data and prepares reports and other information/documentation for supervisory review?related to programs and/or services, or one or more assigned components.

Prepares for and attends events.

Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events.

Other Functions and Responsibilities:

Trains new hires.

Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.

Equipment Operated:

Computer and all other standard office equipment.

Work Schedule:

Typically, Monday through Friday.

Supervision Exercised:
May exercise supervision over student employees.
