School Social Workers/Counselor

AB Staffing is looking for experienced School Social Workers/Counselor that are available for the 2026/2027 school year.

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health related field such as Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work (preferred).
• Active Social Worker Certification in the state of Ohio.
• Experience with preschool and school‑aged populations as a social worker or clinical counselor (preferred).
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Physical ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, read a computer screen or printed material with or without vision aids, hear and understand speech at normal levels, speak in audible tones in person and on the telephone, and understand and follow oral and written instructions; may include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment or materials up to approximately 40 pounds.

Contracts through the 2026/2027 school year. Contract follows the academic district calendar – 37.5 hours per week. Caseload and details of position/classroom type will differ based on school location. • Work to resolve students’ educational handicaps.
• Work to discover and develop the special abilities of students.
• Work to prevent students from dropping out of school.
• Help register students new to the school and orient them to school procedures and the school’s varied opportunities for learning.
• Aids students in course and subject selection.
• Maintain student records and protect their confidentiality.
• Assist students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems related to home and family relations, peer relations, health, and emotional adjustment.
• Provide counseling in areas such as personal growth, self‑understanding, and maturity.
• Conduct small group counseling on student‑selected and counselor‑identified topics such as study skills, social skills, anger management, self‑esteem, changing families, and grief.
• Obtain and disseminate occupational information to students and to classes studying occupations; help students evaluate career interests and choices; may organize and conduct a career day.
• Provide crisis counseling when needed, for prevention, intervention, and follow‑up, with referrals to community resources when necessary.
• Offer in‑service training in school counseling topics for staff; collaborate with administrators and faculty on student discipline, developmental issues, and identifying significant behaviors such as suicide, self‑harm, and depression.
• Takes an active role in interpreting the school’s objectives to students, parents, and the community at large; confers with parents whenever necessary.
• Performs other related work as assigned.

Salary: $1,912 – $2,025 per week.
