This position is a joint hire between Youngstown State University (YSU) and Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) with Youngstown State University serving as the appointing institution.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses at YSU in statistics or data science.
- Pursue scholarship and participate in department, college, and university service activities.
- Lead the capstone course and related projects in the Health Data Science and AI master’s degree program at NEOMED (students enrolling Fall 2026).
- Engage with the Clinical and Translational Research Institute (CTRI) and affiliated hospital partners to collaborate on healthcare‑related AI projects and statistical analyses.
- Plan, organize, teach, and provide feedback to promote and direct student success.
- Respond to students in a timely manner and communicate with students, departments, and university officials via university‑provided tools and resources.
Typically Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days. Requires work at both YSU campus and NEOMED campus.

Minimum QualificationsPhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related field earned or to be completed by the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications- Strong interest in graduate scholarship, evidence of excellent teaching, and commitment to conducting scholarly research.
- Background in student mentorship, statistical consulting and data analysis, and the development and application of AI in health care settings.
- Preference given to candidates whose research area is biostatistics or health data science with experience in the use of AI in health care settings.
- Passionate about working with undergraduate and master level students on research projects and for participating in the YSU Data Mine.
The position requires sedentary work. Work may involve exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time and walking and standing conducted only occasionally.
