This position is a joint appointment between the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Department of Teacher Education and Leadership Studies. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in mathematics, mathematics education, or education; engaging in appropriate scholarly activity; and contributing to department, college, and university service. The departments seek an exceptional faculty member with a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service to the University, the community, and the profession.
They are especially interested in candidates who are passionate about working with undergraduate and master’s-level students, particularly those preparing to become future teachers.
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.
Work Schedule:
Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.

Minimum Qualifications:
A PhD in mathematics, statistics or mathematics education, or a master’s degree in mathematics or a related field with completion of a PhD in mathematics, statistics or mathematics education by the end of the first year of the appointment. Candidates with a PhD in progress will be offered a Degree Completion Appointment as a Lecturer while completing the terminal degree. Upon completion of the degree, the faculty member shall be assigned the rank of Assistant Professor and issued a tenure track appointment at the beginning of the following academic year.
If the applicant does not have a master’s degree in mathematics or a related field, evidence of an earned PhD in mathematics, statistics or mathematics education is required. Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Evidence of excellent teaching and commitment to conducting scholarly research. Preference will be given to candidates with research or interest in mathematics education, particularly at the K-12 level, have at least three years teaching experience at the K-12 level, and possess a mathematics teaching license.
