K to Physical Education and Health Teacher

Position: K–8 Physical Education & Health Teacher

Location: Youngstown Community School – Youngstown, Ohio

Start Date: August 2026 School Year

We are seeking a passionate and student-focused Physical Education & Health Teacher who is committed to building positive relationships, promoting student wellness, and supporting the whole child through engaging instruction and school wide collaboration.

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Valid Ohio Teaching License/Certification in Physical Education and/or Health
• Must meet all Ohio Department of Education and Workforce license requirements
• Previous experience working with urban and diverse student populations preferred

• Create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment focused on student success and wellness
• Deliver developmentally appropriate Physical Education and Health instruction aligned to Ohio Learning Standards
• Promote positive student behavior through PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies
• Establish high expectations for student participation, engagement, and behavior
• Build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners
• Utilize effective instructional strategies that support diverse learning needs
• Collaborate with teachers, intervention staff, and administration to support the whole child
• Maintain organized instructional spaces and ensure student safety at all times
• Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and willingness to grow through coaching and professional development
• Participate in school improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and professional learning opportunities

• Plan and deliver daily Physical Education and Health instruction for students in grades K–8
• Promote healthy lifestyles, teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
• Implement school wide expectations aligned to PBIS and student wellness initiatives
• Supervise students in instructional and non-instructional settings as assigned
• Support school wide culture, climate, and attendance initiatives
