Early Intervention Developmental Specialist
As a Developmental Specialist, you will support children and families by conducting developmental evaluations, designing individualized intervention plans, coaching parents, delivering specialized instruction, and monitoring progress.
Responsibilities- Conduct developmental evaluations and assessments in homes or community settings to determine a child’s Part C eligibility and plan service needs.
- Develop individualized, evidence‑based strategies that promote planned interactions and active participation of caregivers, children, materials, and the environment to achieve IFSP outcomes.
- Use a coaching interaction style to provide families and caregivers with information, skills, and support related to enhancing a child’s development.
- Serve as the Primary Service Provider (PSP) to deliver special instruction in the child’s home or community setting in accordance with Chapter 5180‑10 of the OAC.
- Promote an infant’s or toddler’s acquisition of functional skills across developmental areas, including cognitive processes and social interaction through adaptation of the child’s learning environment.
- Use formal and informal methods to provide ongoing assessment and progress monitoring.
- Participate as a member of the trans‑disciplinary team; attend weekly team meetings, semestral IFSP meetings, and transition planning conferences.
- Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood special education, family relations & human development, social sciences, or a related field.
- Eligibility for Developmental Specialist certification issued by the Department of Children & Youth (DCY) in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code 5180‑10‑05.
- Knowledge of infant and toddler development, evaluation and assessment tools, and evidence‑based intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of parent coaching interactions and adult learning preferences.
- Valid driver’s license in the state of residence, an excellent driving record, and full liability coverage for any vehicle used for transportation.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with children and family members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and iPad use.
Salary:
As per schedule.
Hours:
40 hrs/week, variable and flexible per program needs.
