We are seeking a passionate and student-focused Physical Education & Health Teacher who is committed to building positive relationships, promoting student wellness, and supporting the whole child through engaging instruction and school wide collaboration.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree required
- Valid Ohio Teaching License/Certification in Physical Education and/or Health
- Must meet all Ohio Department of Education and Workforce licensure requirements
- Previous experience working with urban and diverse student populations preferred
- Support the mission, vision, and values of Youngstown Community School
- Create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment focused on student success and wellness
- Deliver developmentally appropriate Physical Education and Health instruction aligned to Ohio Learning Standards
- Promote positive student behavior through PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies
- Establish high expectations for student participation, engagement, and behavior
- Build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners
- Utilize effective instructional strategies that support diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with teachers, intervention staff, and administration to support the whole child
- Maintain organized instructional spaces and ensure student safety at all times
- Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a willingness to grow through coaching and professional development
- Participate in school improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and professional learning opportunities
- Plan and deliver daily Physical Education and Health instruction for students in grades K8
- Promote healthy lifestyles, teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
- Implement school wide expectations aligned to PBIS and student wellness initiatives
- Supervise students in instructional and non-instructional settings as assigned
- Support school wide culture, climate, and attendance initiatives
