Position Summary
Teach face‑to‑face courses in English composition at Youngstown State University’s main campus in Youngstown, Ohio. Course assignments may include Introduction to College Writing (3 workload hours), Writing 1 with Support (4 workload hours), Writing 1 (3 workload hours), and Writing 2 (3 workload hours). Faculty may be assigned up to 11 hours per semester of the above courses, which are capped at 22 or 26 students.
Must provide regular in‑person instruction as assigned and be available for a minimum of one hour per course per week for student support. Applicants must have excellent oral communication and writing skills.
$820 per workload hour for candidates holding a master’s degree and $1,075 per workload hour for candidates holding a PhD; assignments are offered on a term‑by‑term basis.
Schedule & LocationTypically Monday through Friday. Teaching assignments will be conducted in person at YSU‑Main Campus, Youngstown, Ohio.
Qualifications- At least a master’s degree in English, writing studies, rhetoric and composition, or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching college‑level English composition courses.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Blackboard (or an equivalent learning management system).
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of composition theory and pedagogy.
- Interest and experience in multiple levels of composition, including developmental and honors.
- Ability to utilize educational technology to support multimodal teaching and learning.
- Familiarity with L2 pedagogical theories and methods.
