Part-time Faculty, Sociology - Humanities and Social Sciences

Position Summary

Part‑time faculty will teach a range of sociology courses (e.g., Introduction to Sociology and foundational courses) with a preference for expertise in Social Movements, Social Stratification/Inequality, Applied Sociology, Sociological Theory, and Criminology or Deviance. Must be able to provide regular in‑person instruction as assigned.

Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work schedule:

Monday through Friday. Teaching assignments may be made at YSU’s main location in Youngstown, Ohio, the Steubenville, Ohio location, or for remote courses. Must be able to provide regular in‑person instruction as assigned.

• Sponsorship and/or Work Authorization Status: Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
• Minimum Qualifications:
• An earned master’s degree in sociology.
• Able to teach standard general education courses (e.g., Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems).
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
• Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience, especially online and accelerated.
• Physical Requirements: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands, this position will perform sedentary work.
