Position Overview

CAD Designer to support our engineering and manufacturing teams through the creation and maintenance of accurate 2D and 3D CAD models and production drawings. This role plays a key part in translating design requirements into clear, usable documentation that supports efficient manufacturing and high-quality products.

The CAD Designer will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure drawings reflect design intent, manufacturability, and customer requirements. This position is ideal for a hands-on CAD professional who enjoys working in a manufacturing environment and contributing to new product development and continuous improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • CAD Modeling & Drafting:
Create and maintain accurate 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings for seating components, assemblies, and product variations based on defined design requirements, engineering direction, sketches, or redlines.
  • Drawing Revisions & Control:
Update existing drawings to reflect design changes, improvements, or customer-specific modifications while maintaining proper revision control and documentation.
  • Manufacturing Documentation:
Produce clear, complete fabrication and assembly drawings to support production and ensure alignment with manufacturing needs.
  • BOM & ERP Support:
Assist with the creation, update, and maintenance of bills of materials (BOMs) and related documentation within the ERP system.
  • New Product & Prototype Support:
Support new product development and prototyping efforts by preparing initial drawings, layouts, exploded views, and related documentation under engineering guidance.
  • CAD Library Maintenance:
Maintain and organize CAD files, ensuring proper naming conventions, version control, and archival of obsolete drawings.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure design intent, manufacturability, and customer requirements are met.
  • Drafting Standards:
Adhere to internal drafting standards and contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to drawing accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Quality & Compliance Support:
Ensure drawings meet internal quality standards and support applicable safety, regulatory, and ergonomic requirements.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or comparable hands-on experience in CAD design, drafting, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software, preferably Autodesk Inventor; experience with Solid Works or similar parametric modeling tools is acceptable.
  • Working knowledge of creating and maintaining production drawings, including proper dimensioning, tolerances, and revision control.
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing environment (e.g., metal fabrication, woodworking, upholstery, or similar processes) is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical requirements and design direction accurately.
  • Ability to manage multiple drawing projects and revisions while meeting deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Experience with ERP, PLM, or document management systems is a plus.
Physical Requirements

This role is primarily based in a professional office environment with regular interaction with the manufacturing floor. The position requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods and occasionally move throughout production areas. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
