Role Overview
Controls Project Manager for the HVAC division responsible for planning, executing, and completing control systems projects in coordination with customers and project teams.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and manage all phases of HVAC control system projects from inception to closeout.
- Coordinate hardware design, system programming, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Provide leadership and direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and internal staff.
- Maintain financial control of projects, including costs, billing, collections, and profitability analysis.
- Communicate project status and changes to customers, internal stakeholders, and management.
- Ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations and Johnson Controls quality and safety standards.
- Lead the execution of change orders and pursue additional work opportunities.
- Develop and document project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Conduct site‑specific training for owners/operators and provide operation manuals.
- Validate system performance, resolve issues, and provide as‑built documentation.
- Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials, secure vendor pricing, and manage the bidding process.
- Prepare and complete accurate project billings and financial reports.
- Ensure subcontractor hire, payment, and billing processes are completed on time.
- Participate in job progress meetings and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Enforce Johnson Controls safety policies and promote a culture of zero harm.
- Maintain project documentation and provide warranty support post‑completion.
- Minimum of a technical associate’s degree with four years of relevant HVAC/Building Automation field experience, or six years of equivalent experience.
- Hands‑on experience in designing, programming, and commissioning digital HVAC/Building Automation controls systems.
- Strong HVAC controls knowledge combined with customer communication, organizational, and project leadership skills.
- Proficient verbal and written communication; ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Computer proficiency in Windows, Excel, and related software.
- Knowledge of HVAC/Building Automation theory and system operation.
- Familiarity with project accounting, cost principals, and contracting (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalency with six years of field experience in HVAC.
- Experience preparing status reports for upper management.

- Hiring salary range: $85,200 – $117,000 (final salary based on qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and internal equity).
