Construction Inspector (W/WW plant, wtr mains) - year-round workFull Time Technical Youngstown, OH, US
Highlights- Project types will focus primarily on Water/Wastewater plants and water main projects (repairs, installations) in the Ashtabula/northeast Ohio region.
- A company truck can be provided or you can use your personal vehicle and receive a reimbursement.
- The typical schedule is Monday-Friday - day shift typically (7am-5pm). A few Saturdays may be needed for tight schedules. Night time work may occur occasionally but advance notice will be provided.
- This is year-round work since work is below the frost line.
- Performs construction engineering technician and inspection services primarily involving concrete testing, rebar inspection, and other building materials for W/WW plant construction projects and overseeing utility location, digging, and water main installations/connections and repairs for municipal clients.
- Responsible for testing, inspecting, and reporting on specific aspects of construction works in progress, such as concrete pours, rebar placement, utility location, vertical and horizontal digging, as examples.
- Performs inspections for construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans, and/or proposals for construction work.
- Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer of non-conforming work.
- Responsible for inspection and sampling of construction materials.
- Performs computations with formulas, plots data, and draws simple curves and graphs.
- Assists Engineers in field during soil and materials investigations.
- Ensures that job site tests/observations, including quality control, quality assurance, and verifications are performed in accordance with standard test/observation methods, project specifications and other contract documents.
- Prepares and maintains project records and reports.
- Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing and inspection principles.
- Knowledge of materials testing - standard testing and observation methods.
- Knowledge and understanding of construction or engineering principles.
- Ability to perform quality control initiatives.
- Ability to perform testing and lab reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Acceptable driving record.
- Ability to perform engineering and construction field-testing.
- Ability to work in external environmental conditions during difficult weather.
- Ability to work and provide status updates independently.
- Education:
High School, Technical School, Community College, or Bachelor’s (Construction Management or Civil Engineering) graduate. - New graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Certifications:
ACI Grade I Concrete Testing Technician (preferred but not required).
- Primary work location is in the field and will require candidate to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other standards, including meeting productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA and other standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
