Position Information
Part‑time faculty positions are pooled appointments made on an as‑needed/rolling basis. The role involves teaching undergraduate courses and/or laboratories in core areas of civil engineering and contributing to student success, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts consistent with ABET standards.
Responsibilities include planning, organizing, teaching, and providing feedback to promote student success; responding to students promptly; and communicating with students, departments, and university officials through provided tools and resources.
Work Schedule and LocationTypically Monday through Friday. Teaching assignments may be remote or at various locations, with primary location in Youngstown.
Qualifications and Competencies- Minimum Qualifications: At least a master’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution; must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
- Preferred Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; a minimum of five years of relevant industrial experience is desirable, particularly for upper‑division and engineering design instruction.
- Required Certifications, Training, and Licensures: None.
- Sponsorship and/or Work Authorization Status: Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
- Physical Requirements: Sedentary work. Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods.
