Full-Time Permanent Position with Benefits

An established manufacturing firm in the Youngstown, Ohio area to recruit a skilled Mechanical Engineer. This dynamic role bridges the gap between office-based product development and on-site field execution. You will lead the engineering, 3D modeling, repair design, modification, and technical servicing of heavy industrial material handling systems and advanced lifting equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, modify, and optimize designs for heavy industrial machinery, material handling systems, and specialized lifting equipment.
  • Create highly accurate 2D layouts and complex 3D models using advanced CAD platforms, applying finite element analysis (FEA) for structural stress calculations.
  • Design and select critical mechanical components, including gearboxes, high-torque drive trains, and complex structural weldments.
  • Travel occasionally to domestic customer sites to perform equipment evaluations, diagnose field issues, and establish accurate project technical scopes.
  • Apply meticulous machine tolerances, fits, and finishes to final assembly drawings. Ensure all engineering drafts conform to strict manufacturing standards.
  • Interface professionally with both internal engineering teams and external customer stakeholders to ensure projects are executed on time and to specification.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in heavy industry, machinery design, material handling systems, or industrial cranes. Past field experience in industrial or agricultural settings is highly desirable.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred, though not strictly required.
  • Proven expertise in modern CAD software (Solid Works, CREO, or AutoCAD), combined with standard Microsoft Office literacy.
  • Solid understanding of FEA software, engineering analysis, welding design, and advanced drafting/detailing best practices.
  • Working knowledge of industrial regulatory standards, including CMAA, ASME, AWS, AIST, NEC, and OSHA compliance.
  • Mobility and physical stamina to stand for extended periods during shop floor or field inspections; flexibility to travel to customer installations as needed.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive Medical, Supplemental Dental, and Vision Insurance.
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan featuring a generous company match.
  • Paid Vacation and Sick Leave (starting baseline of 2 weeks of vacation per year).
  • Tuition reimbursement opportunities and specialized training pathways for continuing education and industry certifications.
  • Company-provided tools, including a dedicated cell phone for field service and project management tracking.

Candidates are required to pass a Criminal Background Check and a 10 Panel Drug Screen. Only U.S. Citizens or persons with a Green Card work permit may apply.
