Salary Range: $55,000 - $75,000 Full-Time Permanent Position with Benefits

Seeking an experienced Sales Application Engineer / Inside Sales Engineer for a leading manufacturing firm in the Youngstown, Ohio area. In this role, you will analyze customer inquiries, size major mechanical components, generate cost estimates, and develop detailed technical proposals for natural gas compressor packages serving the oil and gas industry.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming sales inquiries and thoroughly evaluate customer technical specifications and commercial documents.
• Size major industrial equipment—including compressors, engines, and pressure vessels—utilizing engineering software and custom spreadsheets.
• Request, review, and evaluate vendor quotations for key components according to customer requirements and industry standards.
• Build accurate pricing models and generate comprehensive technical proposals for client submittals.
• Modify and update active proposals to reflect shifting customer specifications or project scopes.
• Lead or participate in pre-sale technical discussions, client presentation meetings, and project kickoff sessions.
• Provide ongoing technical support to internal engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams throughout fabrication.
• Assist sales account representatives by answering technical inquiries, performing sizing calculations, and delivering quote updates.
• Represent the company at relevant oil and gas industry trade shows and professional association events.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field; OR 5 to 10 years of equivalent application engineering or technical sales experience.
• Direct experience sizing and estimating equipment for natural gas compression, oil & gas processing, or shale gas markets.
• Familiarity with job-shop manufacturing processes, including welding, fabrication, and mechanical assembly, is highly beneficial.
• Strong analytical skills, exceptional written communication, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple estimating projects simultaneously in a team environment.
