Job OverviewThis position is an onsite role at Mercy – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in Youngstown, OH. It pays between $17.00 and $18.15 per hour based on experience.
Responsibilities- Assign accurate MRNs and complete medical necessity and compliance checks.
- Provide proper patient instructions, collect insurance information, and receive and process physician orders.
- Utilize the overlay tool and meet point‑of‑service goals.
- Operate the telephone switchboard for incoming, outgoing, and inter‑office calls, providing excellent customer service with compassion.
- Conduct audits of accounts, ensuring all forms are completed accurately and on time, and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
- Pre‑register patient accounts before visits, including inbound and outbound calls to obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information.
- Explain general consent for treatment forms, obtain necessary signatures and witnesses.
- Distribute patient education documents such as Medicare and Tricare messages, observation forms, MOON forms, and consent forms.
- Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system, select the applicable insurance plan code, and enter benefit data to support point‑of‑service collections and clean claim rates.
- Screen medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software and distribute ABN as appropriate.
- Distribute and document other designated forms and pamphlets.
- Minimum: 1+ year(s) of customer service experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated inquisitiveness and openness to innovation, including AI.
- Required certification: CRCR, to be obtained within 9 months of hire (company‑paid).
