SUMMARY

Easterseals of Northeast Ohio is seeking an energetic and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant to serve our clients and help make a difference. The position will work up to 19 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. No weekends or holidays are required.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide occupational therapy services to clients under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide occupational therapy services to clients under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist and in accordance with the individualized plan of care.
  • Monitor client participation, response to treatment, and progress toward established goals; communicate significant changes or concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding treatment progress, strategies, and recommendations as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team, families, schools, and community providers to promote continuity and effectiveness of services.
  • Document all services accurately and within established timelines in accordance with Easterseals policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain assigned productivity standards and deliver services in accordance with authorized treatment plans and program expectations.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, agency policies, and ethical standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain required certifications, licensure, and competencies as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily carry out each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program, eligible for or licensed by the state of Ohio, and knowledge of both pediatric and adult populations.
  • Minimum of two months of supervised fieldwork.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must have proof of auto insurance.
  • A criminal background check must meet the requirements of the State of Ohio
  • Drug and alcohol testing per company policy and safety program.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, practices, therapeutic techniques, and interventions.
  • Strong knowledge of human development, functional abilities, and factors affecting occupational performance.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, adults, families, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities or varying levels of functional ability.
  • Ability to establish effective, professional relationships with clients, families, caregivers, and members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Displays a high level of motivation and a self-imposed standard of excellence.
EQUIPMENT USED/MACHINERY REQUIREMENTS
  • Proficient use of standard office equipment, Microsoft Office applications, applicable software programs, and other technology required to perform assigned duties.
  • Utilize therapeutic activities and equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequently requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and a full range of body motion.
  • Potential exposure to blood and body fluids and communicable diseases.

FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt/ $23 per hour
Classification:
Per Diem, up to 19 hours per week
