Job Description Head of Manufacturing & Innovation| Fitz Frames

Fitz Frames is a fast-growing startup on a mission to disrupt the 100‑year‑old mold of the global eyewear industry. We combine cutting‑edge 3D printing, face‑scanning, and mobile app technology to deliver individually‑made glasses that are custom‑fit to every face.

We are looking for a visionary yet pragmatic Head of Manufacturing to own our entire production facility in Youngstown, OH. This is a unique hybrid role designed for a leader who can navigate the boardroom and participate on the production floor with equal fluency.

The Role:

Leadership, Innovation, and Execution

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team
, you will be the primary engine of our manufacturing line. You will balance the high‑level strategic scaling of the company with the daily physical execution of manufacturing and R&D testing. We aren't looking for someone to sit in an office and delegate; we need a technical expert and a doer who leads from the front on the manufacturing line.

1. Senior Leadership & Strategy
  • Operational Excellence: Own the facility, production scheduling, and supply chain logistics.
  • Scale the Movement: Partner with the leadership team to define the manufacturing roadmap as we scale from a startup to a global disruptor.
  • Team Growth: Build, mentor, and lead a manufacturing team that shares an entrepreneurial, "no‑ego" mindset as our demand scales.
  • New Technologies: Lead R&D efforts to evaluate and integrate next‑generation printing technology and advanced polymers.
  • Finishing & Color: Drive innovation in post‑processing, including the development of proprietary new finishing techniques and advanced coloring/dyeing methodologies.
  • Creative Problem Solving: Apply an entrepreneurial lens to break the traditional constraints of eyewear creation through additive manufacturing.
3. Hands‑On Production & QA (The "Boots on the Ground")
  • Production: Spend a significant portion of your time physically operating and maintaining our printers and post‑processing equipment to fulfill orders.
  • Active Fabrication: Manage the full lifecycle of custom frames, from unpacking builds and de‑powdering parts to final assembly.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure our processes are being followed consistently and act as the final gatekeeper for product quality. You will define and execute rigorous QA protocols to ensure every custom‑fit frame meets our "unmatched comfort" standard before it reaches a customer.
Why Fitz?

At Fitz, you’ll join a welcoming environment led by a CEO with multiple successful exits. We offer an unmatched career experience where your work isn’t just a job—it's a movement to put choice and control back into the hands of the customer.

Requirements Who You Are
  • More than 5 years of Manufacturing Experience with progressively more responsibility.
  • Additive

    Experience:

Experience in additive manufacturing is strongly preferred.
  • A "Doer": You find satisfaction in the physical act of creation and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty on the production floor.
  • A Problem Solver: You see a production bottleneck or a finishing flaw as a challenge to be solved, not a chore to be ignored.
  • An Entrepreneurial Mind: You are excited by a startup environment where your ideas directly shape the future of the company.
  • Technical Precision: Fastidious attention to detail and the ability to self‑inspect components.

Great health coverage and generous PTO. Equity.
