1st Shift EDM Operator

Kelly is seeking a skilled EDM Operator to join our manufacturing team in Youngstown, Ohio. This direct-hire opportunity is ideal for an experienced machinist with expertise in Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) who takes pride in producing high-quality precision components. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining EDM equipment while ensuring products meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Wire EDM and/or Sinker EDM machines to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, process sheets, and technical documentation.
  • Load materials, fixtures, tooling, and machine programs for production runs.
  • Monitor machine performance to ensure dimensional accuracy, quality standards, and production efficiency.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Make machine adjustments and offsets as needed to maintain product quality.
  • Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and process issues to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Maintain accurate production records, quality documentation, and ERP system transactions.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic machine upkeep.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and company safety standards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical or vocational training in machining is preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience operating Wire EDM and/or Sinker EDM equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
