Job Description:M-7 Technologies is seeking a Machinist in a role that will focus on supporting the manual machining requirements of the manufacturing workshop. This role will focus on a variety of tasks related to new part manufacturing and various remanufacturing efforts. The work will be job shop in nature with some amount of repeat orders in heavy industry as well as many other industries.
PrimaryJob Duties:
- Perform workpiece set-up following job instruction sheets, or perform set-up solo in a manner that will yield desired machining results
- Perform rough and finish machine operations on machine tools including various size manual lathes and mills such as LeBlond engine lathes, Axelson engine lathes, Vertical Knee Mills, etc.
- Accurately utilize shop measuring equipment such as OD micrometers, s, depth gauge, calipers, etc. Perform final inspection when required
- Operate overhead crane and forklift as required for material handling and part set‑up, sizes can range from 10 lbs to 10,000 lbs
- Examples of machining requirements include but not limited to finish turning shafts, rolls, axles, pre‑machine various parts (bearing cartridges, shafts, bores, housings, fabrications) for weld and finish machine to drawing specification after weld
- Formal machinist training a plus, preferred minimum of 3 year’s experience
- Knowledge of heavy industrial applications and manufacturing (machining, assembly, testing) is a requirement.
- Proficient in machining principles such as speeds and feeds required
- Efficient use of tooling to include carbide, high feed mills, various tool holders and cutters
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings including knowledge of GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
