GRINDING OPERATOR ($21.00 per hour) Starting Rate
A grinding operator's duties include prepping jobs before and after chrome plating by operating various sized grinding machines (both OD and ). Grinders will operate each machine to traverse a stone grinding wheel up and down the surface of a job until a certain amount of stock is removed. The types of jobs that grinding operators will be working on include various sized pistons, cylinders, housings, and valves.
A grinding operator's duties include setting up each job by taking exact measurements of the piece, dialing in run-out, and removing stock until the job runs true. The grinding operation is performed before chrome to clean up the job as well as after chrome to a specific size. A grinding operator must be able to read outside and inside micrometers for exact measurements, must have some mechanical/ basic mathematics knowledge, and must be able to work at a steady pace as per 10-hour shift.
Grinders will be using overhead cranes to place jobs into grinding machines as well as remove them and must be able to operate a forklift. Training on the job will be necessary. This position is a daylight position, 5am-3pm, Monday-Thursday.
