Polisher

Pay: $25.00 – $30.00+ per hour, based on experience

Shift: 1st Shift | 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Polisher to join a growing manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating polishing equipment to achieve the required surface finish and dimensional specifications on precision-machined components. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work with hand tools and precision measuring equipment. Experience operating polishing equipment is preferred, but candidates with hands-on experience using CNC equipment, manual machinery, or similar tools are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate polishing equipment to achieve required product specifications and surface finishes.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, work orders, and tooling instructions.
  • Select the appropriate tools and equipment based on material, dimensions, finish requirements, and job specifications.
  • Make adjustments to equipment as necessary to account for material, tooling, machine, or process conditions.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure dimensional and quality requirements are met.
  • Use precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, verniers, and tape measures.
  • Maintain tight tolerances of.001" when required.
  • Troubleshoot operating issues and make appropriate adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Operate hand tools safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
  • Follow all environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to improve productivity, reduce scrap, minimize downtime, and improve overall operations.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, hand trucks, or other material-handling equipment as required.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 0–2 years of experience operating CNC or manual polishing equipment, or comparable experience using hand tools and machine-shop equipment.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Ability to use micrometers and other precision measuring equipment to verify tolerances within.

  • Ability to properly use a tape measure.
  • Familiarity with polishing tools, equipment, and processes is preferred.
  • Familiarity with common hand tools and their proper and safe use.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and work independently.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to perform bending, climbing, and other physical activities associated with machine-shop work.
  • Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to see and hear sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
