Threaded Pipe Fitter

This role focuses on selecting, installing, and assembling threaded piping systems in accordance with project specifications. You will work with a variety of metal pipes and fittings, perform basic welding on supports, and ensure all installations meet quality and safety standards. The position follows a regular weekday schedule with opportunities for overtime and cross-training in related assembly functions.

Responsibilities
  • Select appropriate pipe types, sizes, and related materials such as supports and hangers based on project specifications.
  • Plan pipe installations to avoid obstructions and minimize interference with other trades and systems.
  • Cut, thread, assemble, and install various metal pipes, tubing, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and stainless steel.
  • Connect piping using threaded joints to ensure secure and leak-resistant connections.
  • Secure piping to structures using brackets, clamps, hangers, and other support hardware.
  • Perform air pressure testing on piping systems to identify, verify, and document leaks.
  • Weld pipe supports to structural steel members using light welding techniques.
  • Track and document heat numbers for pipes and fittings associated with individual pipe runs to maintain traceability and quality records.
  • Cross-train in additional assembly functions, including setup, welding, and general assembly tasks, to support broader production needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the team and projects.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience in pipe fitting, including selecting, cutting, threading, and assembling metal piping systems.
  • Proficiency in threading pipes and fittings for use in threaded piping systems.
  • Ability to perform light welding, particularly for attaching pipe supports to structural steel members.
  • Experience reading and working from blueprints or technical drawings.
  • Capability to perform air pressure testing on piping systems and interpret test results.
  • Strong attention to detail for tracking and documenting heat numbers and other quality-related information.
  • Ability to complete all essential job functions satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available as needed.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with plumbing or related plumbing work is a plus.
  • Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school is preferred.
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to cross-train in setup, welding, and general assembly functions.
  • Comfort working in a team environment and coordinating with other trades.

Work Environment

The role follows a regular schedule of Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with an overtime schedule of Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:40 PM. Occasional half-day schedules, such as 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM, may also be possible depending on workload. You will work on-site alongside approximately 200 employees in a facility operated by a family-owned company that has been in business for about 80 years.
