Mechanical Technician
Shift: 1st Shift Pay: $18.00–$21.00/hour, based on experience
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our Tubing Technician Department. In this role, you will be responsible for laying out, assembling, and installing threaded pipe systems and pipe supports on compressor packages. The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude, experience working with pipe, tubing, fittings, or related mechanical systems, and takes pride in producing quality work safely and efficiently.
This position will also provide opportunities to cross-train in other areas of the assembly team, including setup, welding, and general assembly.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Select the appropriate type and size of pipe, tubing, fittings, supports, and hangers according to specifications.
- Plan installations to avoid obstructions and prevent interference with other work activities.
- Cut and thread pipe to required specifications.
- Assemble and install a variety of metal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and stainless steel.
- Connect piping using threaded joints.
- Secure piping to structures using brackets, clamps, and hangers.
- Perform air pressure tests and monitor pressure gauges to identify potential leaks.
- Weld pipe supports to structural steel members.
- Track and record heat numbers from pipe and fittings for individual pipe runs.
- Read and follow specifications, drawings, and work instructions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Cross-train in other assembly team functions, including setup, welding, and assembly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred; or
- Six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with hand tools and mechanical components.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
