Job Description & How to Apply Below

MVMC is seeking a part-time, paid Marketing & Communications Intern to support outreach and awareness-building for Work Ohio in the designated counties. This role is ideal for a student interested in marketing, public relations, communications, community outreach, or nonprofit/workforce development who wants hands-on experience engaging directly with community organizations and the public. The intern will work closely with MVMC and its partner community-based organizations to extend the Work Ohio outreach capacity -- helping to plan, prepare, and staff outreach efforts so MVMC's core team can focus on higher-level employer and industry engagement.

Applicants must be enrolled at a university in Ohio.

Responsibilities
  • Research and compile a calendar of upcoming community events, career fairs, and public gatherings across the three-county service area suitable for Work Ohio outreach.
  • Identify and coordinate placement locations for Work Ohio posters, yard signs, and flyers throughout the region (community boards, businesses, libraries, community centers, etc.).
  • Distribute and place outreach materials on-site, and track where materials have been placed.
  • Staff Work Ohio tables at career fairs, job fairs, and other community events, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Build and maintain relationships with regional community-based organizations (CBOs), including churches, community action agencies, food banks, and schools, to distribute Work Ohio information.
  • Represent Work Ohio at parent-teacher nights, school open houses, and similar community touchpoints.
  • Assist with drafting and scheduling social media content, flyers, and other outreach materials to promote Work Ohio.
  • Track outreach activities, contacts, and event participation, and report results back to MVMC staff.
  • Support other marketing and communications tasks for Work Ohio as needed.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, preferably in marketing, communications, public relations, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging with the public and diverse community groups.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple outreach locations and events.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout region.
  • Flexible availability, including occasional evenings and weekends for events.
  • Basic proficiency with social media platforms, Canva, Microsoft Office, or similar tools; graphic design experience a plus.
  • Interest in workforce development, community engagement, or public service preferred but not required.
