This role involves delivering expert nursing care within a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Stepdown setting focused on cardiac, surgical, and respiratory patients. The position demands critical thinking, clinical assessment skills, and the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care. Responsibilities include managing patient assessments, administering medications, coordinating care plans, and actively participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform ongoing patient assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate treatment responses.
- Administer medications safely while adhering to policies and state regulations.
- Serve as a care coordinator within the hospital, liaising with patients, families, and care teams.
- Manage clinical care for patients with complex conditions including multi-system organ failure and post-operative recovery.
- Act as a patient advocate, supporting physiological and psychosocial stability across the lifespan.
- Utilize evidence-based nursing practices in accordance with professional standards and organizational models.
- Demonstrate skill in handling specific treatments such as amiodarone drips, wound vacs, and titrating Cardizem and heparin infusions.
- Current RN license with coverage under the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- Minimum of 1 year RN experience; acute care hospital experience preferred.
- Certification or training in BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke, and progressive care specialty certifications preferred.
- Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Record and critical care protocols.
- Strong clinical assessment skills with competence in hemodynamic monitoring and management of cardiac patients.
- Ability to prioritize, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
