Stepdown RN - Youngstown, OH

Step into a critical care role focused on providing expert nursing to patients with cardiac, surgical, and respiratory illnesses in a progressive care/stepdown setting. This position requires seasoned skills in patient assessment, medication administration, and care coordination within a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with complex needs across the adult and geriatric populations. Key Qualifications and

Experience:

• Current RN license in the practicing state or under compact agreement
• BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification required;
  Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide available)
• Minimum 1 year RN experience; at least 6 months acute care hospital experience preferred
• Knowledge of cardiac care including TIKOSYN loading, Cardizem titration, heparin, and Amiodarone drips
• Proficient in conducting hemodynamic assessments and managing patients with multi-system organ failure
• Strong clinical decision-making, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across care teams

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive, ongoing assessments and develop patient-centered plans of care
• Administer IV push medications and manage post-operative drains and wound vacs; team nursing models with LPNs
• Serve as patient advocate, coordinating care with family, spiritual, and palliative care providers
• Function as charge nurse on days without assignment; full responsibilities with patient load on nights
• Apply advanced nursing standards consistent with the professional practice model and quality improvement initiatives

This contract role is located in Youngstown, OH, offering a dynamic work environment within a 26-bed unit specializing in complex cardiac and surgical care.
