Job Overview
Senior PCU nurse travel contract for 13 weeks in Youngstown, Ohio, caring for cardiac, surgical, and respiratory patients in a busy stepdown unit. 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week.
Contract Details- Location:
Youngstown, OH (zip 44504) - Contract Length: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890
- Hours per Week: 36 (12-hour nights)
- Setting:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Unit – cardiac, surgical, respiratory - Unit Size / Ratios: 26 beds; typical night ratio 1:5-6
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized care plans as a PCU nurse
- Administer medications safely and accurately, including IV push medications
- Monitor and titrate cardiac drips (Cardizem, heparin, amiodarone) and manage telemetry for dysrhythmias
- Provide care for cardiac, surgical, and respiratory patients, including post-op drains and wound vacs
- Coordinate patient care and communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Serve as a patient safety advocate and participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions and medical emergencies in a stepdown/PCU setting
- Document accurately in the electronic health record (EPIC preferred)
- Deliver compassionate, relationship-based care that supports patients and families during transitions of care
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or compact state (required)
- BLS and ACLS (required)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required)
- Dysrhythmia Exam (required; study guide available)
- Minimum 1 year RN experience (required); acute care hospital experience preferred
- 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)
- EPIC EHR experience, Critical Care Course, CCRN or PCCN (preferred)
