Job Overview
Cone Health is seeking a full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our not-for-profit health care network serving the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. In this role, you will provide safe, high-quality anesthesia care for surgical, obstetric, and procedural patients in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
You will conduct comprehensive pre-anesthesia assessments, review medical histories, order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests when indicated, and develop individualized anesthesia care plans tailored to each patient’s needs and risk profile. During procedures, you will administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care, manage airways, titrate anesthetic agents, fluids, and medications, and continuously monitor and document patient status, intervening promptly to maintain hemodynamic stability and patient safety.
You will also oversee immediate post-anesthesia recovery, manage pain and postoperative nausea, and ensure effective handoffs to PACU and inpatient teams.
As a CRNA at Cone Health, you will practice in a collaborative and compassionate environment that prioritizes patient-centered care, evidence-based practice, and adherence to all regulatory and safety standards. You will participate in call coverage and rotating shifts as needed to support 24/7 coverage of operative and procedural services, including potential coverage for obstetric anesthesia, emergency cases, and off-site procedural areas such as endoscopy or interventional radiology.
You will contribute to quality improvement initiatives, patient safety projects, and clinical protocols aimed at optimizing outcomes and enhancing the patient experience. You will be expected to maintain meticulous documentation within the electronic health record, follow institutional policies and national anesthesia guidelines, and support compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements.
Cone Health offers a dynamic healthcare environment with strong support for professional development and career growth. As part of our culture of learning and innovation, you will have opportunities to participate in continuing education, clinical conferences, skills training, and potential involvement in teaching, mentoring, or precepting students and new team members. The organization emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, and fosters a respectful workplace where all team members feel valued, heard, and empowered to contribute their expertise.
You will work closely with surgeons, hospitalists, nurses, and ancillary staff in a team-based model that emphasizes open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making. This role is ideal for a CRNA who is committed to clinical excellence, compassionate patient care, lifelong learning, and community-focused healthcare delivery.
Qualified candidates will have completed an accredited nurse anesthesia program and hold current CRNA certification, along with active North Carolina RN and APRN licenses (or eligibility to obtain them prior to start). Strong candidates will demonstrate proficiency in regional and general anesthesia techniques, expert airway management skills, solid judgment in high-acuity situations, and the ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Excellent communication skills, reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to safety and quality are essential. In joining Cone Health, you will become part of a mission-driven health system dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve, while advancing your own practice in a supportive and collaborative setting.
