Position Description
Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Youngstown, Ohio — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
- Hourly Pay: $27.50 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 per new ASE Certification up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
- Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday; weekends OFF - Hours:
Second Shift 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance
- Perform standard component inspections and repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
- Identify root cause of basic failures or conditions and perform repairs as required
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which could include but are not limited to Service Island support
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification or Post‑Secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
