Controls Systems Technician

What you will do

• Perform assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
• Respond to basic warranty calls.
• Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
• Act as a trusted advisor, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service.

• Load system‑level controller software.
• Perform basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system‑level controllers to end devices (sensors, actuators, etc.) and complete all required documentation.
• Keep management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
• Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
• Complete administrative tasks including time sheets, expense reports, and on‑site documentation.
• Document changes and provide information for as‑built documentation.
• Communicate with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
• Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility runs efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

• 2‑year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a similar field, or at least 2 years of industry experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
• Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and other contacts ethically and professionally.
• Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Leadership skills to support mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical Building Automation equipment on a job site.
• PC experience and the ability to program HVAC‑related software.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $20-$28 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package.
