Position Description

Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Youngstown, Ohio offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a technician career you can feel good about.

Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $27.50 per hour
  • Certification Bonus up to $700 for each new ASE certification obtained
  • Quarterly bonus up to $500
  • Sign‑on bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
  • Second shift 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm;
    Monday‑Friday weekdays; weekends off

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
  • More than two years of classroom training and/or related work experience
  • Valid commercial driver license (Class A preferred)
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL within six months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check including last 3 years of employment drug/alcohol verification
Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
  • Perform preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.)
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
  • Identify root cause of basic failures and perform required repairs
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers and drivers to determine nature of complaints
  • Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support
