The Highway Sign Installer is responsible for creating and installing roadway signs, preparing, repairing, and installing traffic signs and pavement markings on highways, bridges, bicycle paths, and other roadways. The role requires performing a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance and sign installation while adhering to applicable federal, state, and local regulations and safety guidelines.

- Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications
- Transport materials, tools, and equipment to/from installation sites
- Cut materials to specified sizes using power tools
- Assemble and install signs adjacent to high-volume roadways using pneumatic tools, ensuring proper placement
- Drive a vehicle properly and safely
- Operate tools safely
- Set up traffic control if required
- Safely lift, move, or carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs; a valid and clean driver’s license is required
- Highway sign assembly and installation experience preferred
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- 3–5 years of highway sign installation or related industry experience
- MOT Advanced certification

- Repeated physical effort: driving for several hours per day, standing, walking, loading and unloading equipment, lifting a minimum of 50 lbs, working from elevated platforms, ladders, or truck beds
- Operate hand/power tools and demonstrate manual dexterity with keyboards and smartphones
- Work outdoors in adverse environmental conditions, including high-speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes, and construction substances
- Maintain awareness of surrounding vehicles in work zones and during equipment operation
- Vision and hearing adequate for operating in traffic conditions and communicating in person and over the telephone
- Communicate clearly in written and verbal forms; complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
- Work a flexible schedule, including day or night shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and team or individual work
- Valid driver’s license; must pass MVR and controlled substance test, and may require background and criminal record check
- Maintain company standards regarding background checks, criminal record, driving record, and controlled substance compliance
